After a trip to market in Atlanta with all the women of the family (Yes! we had a wonderful time and plan to go back annually!), I have a much better idea of what's to come. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ei60GsHto4/UeleYDnauhI/AAAAAAAAAj8/9ORshbGEHUY/s1600/market.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ei60GsHto4/UeleYDnauhI/AAAAAAAAAj8/9ORshbGEHUY/s400/market.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>After dinner at the Ritz in Buckhead </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Isn't my family beautiful ;)</i></div>
<br />
<br />
....back to the nursery! Here are some pictures that inspired my ideas:<br />
<br />
I started at restoration hardware baby and child because I basically love every room that they do. I love this color blue!!!!!! It is just so dreamy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ju750UzB62w/UeledAURYlI/AAAAAAAAAkE/in8QaMOzOYU/s1600/nursery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ju750UzB62w/UeledAURYlI/AAAAAAAAAkE/in8QaMOzOYU/s400/nursery.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.rhbabyandchild.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=rhbc_prod402086&categoryId=rhbc_cat225001">rhbabyandchild.com</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BZeEBdjc6cI/UelfPytMv4I/AAAAAAAAAkU/3Pq5z4twYkg/s1600/nursery4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BZeEBdjc6cI/UelfPytMv4I/AAAAAAAAAkU/3Pq5z4twYkg/s400/nursery4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.rhbabyandchild.com/rooms/shopByRoom.jsp?cm_sp=global_top_nav_store-_-dynamic_menu_item-_-NA&categoryId=rhbc_cat115024#/rhbc336015">rhbabyandchild.com</a></div>
<br />
Then, I became obsessed with hot air balloons and globes! The colors in this picture are not exactly what I am going for, but I love! the globe mobile, giraffe lamp, and the hot air balloon model.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p6lbw7rZdkY/UelfP8oTZ0I/AAAAAAAAAkY/MMUR2ebtZ2A/s1600/nursery2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p6lbw7rZdkY/UelfP8oTZ0I/AAAAAAAAAkY/MMUR2ebtZ2A/s400/nursery2.jpg" width="361" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, of course, I have to have animals for a little boy! Here are some of the prints that I liked....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HI1IeGpmqMQ/UelfQYHkzYI/AAAAAAAAAkc/0mtiQYVlMGk/s1600/nursery5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HI1IeGpmqMQ/UelfQYHkzYI/AAAAAAAAAkc/0mtiQYVlMGk/s400/nursery5.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To add a bit of a vintage feel, I decided to go with a Jinny Lind style crib similar to this picture:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5ncEd3_WrrY/Uelg14ds70I/AAAAAAAAAk4/a2WByUf62Yc/s1600/nursery6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5ncEd3_WrrY/Uelg14ds70I/AAAAAAAAAk4/a2WByUf62Yc/s400/nursery6.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Although I am not much of a "theme" person, going to market really helped me narrow down some of the items that I wanted to include in the nursery and the overall look that I am going for. The best description that I can come up with is a baby safari adventure/travel theme in a pastel colorway. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, I am on to paint colors! Here are some ideas I already have for the walls:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-baF9TSOta2A/UeliHSmRL1I/AAAAAAAAAlI/uKruH2Id_-M/s1600/wall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-baF9TSOta2A/UeliHSmRL1I/AAAAAAAAAlI/uKruH2Id_-M/s400/wall.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aDM5Q2aSIvo/UeliHeDC8sI/AAAAAAAAAlE/tz8zvN5uaTI/s1600/wall2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aDM5Q2aSIvo/UeliHeDC8sI/AAAAAAAAAlE/tz8zvN5uaTI/s400/wall2.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am looking for a light greige, but I have to decide whether to go more brown or more grey. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't wait to share some of my purchases with everyone!....and, to post some before and afters. I would love to hear what you think.</div>

<span lang="EN">I have been really drawn to the Black and White trend recently. Of course I
love wearing the combo, but I am considering the clean palette for the guest

but I will need to be very creative since I am in a rented space where
installing black and white tile or wallpaper is not a practical option
currently.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

However, we have had quite a lot of fun activities going on in life. Here is a little bit on the happenings in our lives over the past couple of months (working out way backwards....)<br />
<br />
One of our closest family friends (and Nicole's best friend) got married on June 22nd!! It was a very fun weekend for our family since we were actually all present!!<br />
<br />
We both went to the bridesmaids luncheon, and Mom maid everyone monogrammed button ups to wear during the "getting ready" process. They turned out great! And, we had fun doing everyone's hair....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yPx3dGM1WdM/Uc3iNbKlm3I/AAAAAAAAAhA/mKSp8i8fTsQ/s612/bridesmaids.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yPx3dGM1WdM/Uc3iNbKlm3I/AAAAAAAAAhA/mKSp8i8fTsQ/s400/bridesmaids.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are a few (and I mean a few bc we didn't remember to take many) pictures from the reception....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2PSxPocmQ-I/Uc3VepEVYwI/AAAAAAAAAfI/DWBN6QPvg1U/s1600/wedding.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2PSxPocmQ-I/Uc3VepEVYwI/AAAAAAAAAfI/DWBN6QPvg1U/s400/wedding.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YaF6ICFLvzg/Uc3WT5s7W9I/AAAAAAAAAfQ/QXXIOnQC2VM/s1600/wedding2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YaF6ICFLvzg/Uc3WT5s7W9I/AAAAAAAAAfQ/QXXIOnQC2VM/s320/wedding2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
....this is a rare moment to have all three Fontenot siblings together and ready for a picture!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The wedding was beautiful and definitely a fun night for the entire family. The reception was next door to the Methodist church in Hollandale at the Clarke's home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yT7VjXBdiwE/Uc3ZbHfSPDI/AAAAAAAAAgA/QbHB6SW8hJ0/s1532/weddingdrawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="392" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yT7VjXBdiwE/Uc3ZbHfSPDI/AAAAAAAAAgA/QbHB6SW8hJ0/s400/weddingdrawing.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It occurred to us, that if we share EVERYTHING we have done over the past couple of months that could get a little lengthy. So here are some of the photos from each of us.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

Bathroom {part 1}<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: start;">
Since I have been sick with a sinus infection and ear infections, organizing my bathroom drawers seemed like a good task--I could sit in bed and bring the drawers to me. I had a long ways to go as the "before" picture below show....<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<img src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QNPz-9l3hbg/UV7ipOQfWfI/AAAAAAAAAbA/acCjKUlmpDU/s640/Slide1.JPG" /></div>
<br />
<br />
I decided to take this project one drawer at a time and start with DIY cereal box drawer dividers inspired from a post on iHeart Organizing {one of my favorite blogs} that I had been dying to try. You can find her original post <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2013/01/diy-cereal-box-drawer-dividers.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I should tell you now that this took me longer than I expected, but I did not have to spend any money which is always a huge positive. I started out by gathering boxes that I had been collecting for this particular project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-yjgEhZu3xEk/UW3oDZrqbdI/AAAAAAAAAbg/GBA54jpshew/s640/blogger-image--1125415432.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-yjgEhZu3xEk/UW3oDZrqbdI/AAAAAAAAAbg/GBA54jpshew/s640/blogger-image--1125415432.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, I began fitting the boxes together in the drawer that I wanted to organize. Keep in mind that my boxes did not magically fit in the drawer like this the first time. I actually tried several different options {while watching tv} until I decided to stick with one. The cereal box was not in my original pile of boxes to choose from. I swiped that from the pantry when I realized I needed a few more options. So just keep trying until they fit together--think of this part as a puzzle. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-lH4FehQnvVs/UW3pLfLzVoI/AAAAAAAAAbo/LwhW9Vn8BlM/s640/blogger-image--477941334.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-lH4FehQnvVs/UW3pLfLzVoI/AAAAAAAAAbo/LwhW9Vn8BlM/s640/blogger-image--477941334.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, I traced around the outside edge with a marker. There are several ways you could accomplish this step. Measuring would work just as well, but at the time this seemed easier to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-s7DCUuvlyXQ/UW3qDuDazqI/AAAAAAAAAb4/XO0Wrod0qb0/s640/blogger-image-379644694.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-s7DCUuvlyXQ/UW3qDuDazqI/AAAAAAAAAb4/XO0Wrod0qb0/s640/blogger-image-379644694.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, I cut the boxes to be flush {or as close as possible} with the top of the drawer. This step takes some time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r2_4gfr2UlQ/UW3qE9_6v_I/AAAAAAAAAcA/zOBwKOCJp6Q/s640/blogger-image--1317309783.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r2_4gfr2UlQ/UW3qE9_6v_I/AAAAAAAAAcA/zOBwKOCJp6Q/s640/blogger-image--1317309783.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-74c26-f7TI8/UW3qF_QHQ3I/AAAAAAAAAcI/GztDt9neYC8/s640/blogger-image--945810212.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-74c26-f7TI8/UW3qF_QHQ3I/AAAAAAAAAcI/GztDt9neYC8/s640/blogger-image--945810212.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-K34cfebHRt0/UW3qCoogtKI/AAAAAAAAAbw/1N8vj1BsqRE/s640/blogger-image--675160839.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-K34cfebHRt0/UW3qCoogtKI/AAAAAAAAAbw/1N8vj1BsqRE/s640/blogger-image--675160839.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I used scrapbook paper that I had from a previous project to cover the boxes. I measured the paper and made the creases before using glue and tape to secure the paper in place. At the beginning, I was completely covering the boxes inside and out. Then, I decided that it was most important to line the insides and not worry as much about the outside since that would not be showing. Any pretty paper would work for this step. Maybe you have wrapping paper or large decorative sheets of paper that are sold at craft and art stores. It probably would have been easier if I had used wider paper for this step, but I was trying to use items I had on hand in order to keep the cost down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NGpMOJSvQPA/UW3wEWR9tUI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/136s-iHEpZE/s640/blogger-image--1858252537.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NGpMOJSvQPA/UW3wEWR9tUI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/136s-iHEpZE/s640/blogger-image--1858252537.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
After lots of measuring, cutting, gluing, and taping, I finally finished covering all of my boxes and here is how my organizers turned out.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LEGczEpyQ3Y/UW3wrSLl7HI/AAAAAAAAAcY/MlLveEAcOek/s640/blogger-image-151411289.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LEGczEpyQ3Y/UW3wrSLl7HI/AAAAAAAAAcY/MlLveEAcOek/s640/blogger-image-151411289.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, I wanted to make the other drawers as pretty but did not need all of the different sections. Rather than buying contact paper to line the drawers, I used scrapbook paper from the same book that I used to line the boxes. I matched up the pieces and taped it down to prevent it from sliding around.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dm7Sqwz_b9U/UW338mEvVII/AAAAAAAAAdI/nSWQ80Yu-Tg/s640/blogger-image-1387561072.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dm7Sqwz_b9U/UW338mEvVII/AAAAAAAAAdI/nSWQ80Yu-Tg/s640/blogger-image-1387561072.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--gkTxLXg6h4/UW337e6N2qI/AAAAAAAAAdA/5twuESBh8CI/s640/blogger-image--1309271362.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--gkTxLXg6h4/UW337e6N2qI/AAAAAAAAAdA/5twuESBh8CI/s640/blogger-image--1309271362.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Because I had created so much organized space in my top drawer, it opened up the space in the drawers below. Now the drawers look like this... Some of the items in the very back are not easily accessible, but those are items that I do not use regularly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-QWXVR6vMGjE/UW331kOYWQI/AAAAAAAAAcg/aD3udBPLME4/s640/blogger-image-213966263.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-QWXVR6vMGjE/UW331kOYWQI/AAAAAAAAAcg/aD3udBPLME4/s640/blogger-image-213966263.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6HVQe3UOW38/UW332Rg5hAI/AAAAAAAAAco/-IeLN-j5pWU/s640/blogger-image-385334554.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6HVQe3UOW38/UW332Rg5hAI/AAAAAAAAAco/-IeLN-j5pWU/s640/blogger-image-385334554.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FDyIjnXorbw/UW333c1oueI/AAAAAAAAAcw/LQjqfZNK1pU/s640/blogger-image-120753339.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FDyIjnXorbw/UW333c1oueI/AAAAAAAAAcw/LQjqfZNK1pU/s640/blogger-image-120753339.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
When I was cleaning out my drawers, I realized there were lots of product samples without a "home". For now, I threw them all into one of my spare baskets that came from the dollar store years ago. I am planning on putting the basket in our second bathroom for guests. I will probably add to this over time in order to make it a more complete selection. Currently, there are different types of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, sunscreen, mouth wash, and tooth paste. As well as being great for guests, these are all great sized products for travel, and any time I need something for a trip, I will know exactly where to find it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qxM1RJ5IXNs/UW334r2Z7SI/AAAAAAAAAc4/Ni09-vl7TfY/s640/blogger-image--234262636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qxM1RJ5IXNs/UW334r2Z7SI/AAAAAAAAAc4/Ni09-vl7TfY/s640/blogger-image--234262636.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Low budget organization may take more time {and patience while accomplishing it} but it was great to finish part 1 of my project still not having spent $1. Do you repurpose items in order to help with organization? I would love to hear about some of your ideas and projects.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy spring cleaning!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, here are my <i>before </i>and <i>after's</i> of my closet. There is not a lot of drastic change, but I did accomplish everything I set out to do. I started by taking most everything out of the closet and separating the items into those that I wanted to resell/donate, those that needed to be stored for winter, and those that should stay for the summer. I wanted all of my shoes to have their own "place", so I stored the off season shoes in a container under a bench. I happen to wear a lot of shoes that could be considered winter for work, so anything I was doubtful about, I kept in the closet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBrdPx4aOGQ/UVsmz-Fu2TI/AAAAAAAAAY4/6xjg2F_r498/s1600/DSC_0092.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBrdPx4aOGQ/UVsmz-Fu2TI/AAAAAAAAAY4/6xjg2F_r498/s400/DSC_0092.JPG" width="265" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l-RmDzUPpB0/UXBdnALzNGI/AAAAAAAAAdk/h4aOP_Qrte8/s1600/DSC_0120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l-RmDzUPpB0/UXBdnALzNGI/AAAAAAAAAdk/h4aOP_Qrte8/s400/DSC_0120.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
{Before} {After}</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Notice the shelf to the right{above} and the floor {below} are now clear. Remember, one of our goals is to keep horizontal services clear!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7TR0Eqr4G3s/UVsm0FWqgHI/AAAAAAAAAZA/S9mEwc0fJJk/s1600/DSC_0091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7TR0Eqr4G3s/UVsm0FWqgHI/AAAAAAAAAZA/S9mEwc0fJJk/s400/DSC_0091.JPG" width="265" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bn8uzF5Tp80/UXBemPmEShI/AAAAAAAAAdo/d50mjESNYEg/s1600/DSC_0119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bn8uzF5Tp80/UXBemPmEShI/AAAAAAAAAdo/d50mjESNYEg/s400/DSC_0119.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Before} {After}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Prior to this cleanup and cleanout, the top of my closet was merely a place that I put {threw} things when there was no where else to put them. Another problem I had, was the large amount of tshirts that were taking up a lot of drawer space. The basket is something I have had for a while that was not really being used for anything. It now houses by bathing suits and coverups!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4J_4gUQVU38/UVsm0k4FipI/AAAAAAAAAZE/ovyHQK3TNBU/s1600/DSC_0093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4J_4gUQVU38/UVsm0k4FipI/AAAAAAAAAZE/ovyHQK3TNBU/s200/DSC_0093.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u02Pz8xeEd8/UXBfCpCFwsI/AAAAAAAAAdw/xx3EOHMNUW8/s1600/DSC_0124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u02Pz8xeEd8/UXBfCpCFwsI/AAAAAAAAAdw/xx3EOHMNUW8/s200/DSC_0124.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Before} {After}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last area was this smaller {detached} closet that was previously a place for cocktail/nicer dresses that I didn't want to get tangled up in my other clothes and place to quickly hang dry cleaning {instead of putting it away like I should}. Now it is the perfect place for t shirts....I moved the hanging shelf from the other closet because it didn't really fit there anyway. Jackets hang on the left and cocktail/nicer dresses on the right!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lastly, I found a perfect tote to lay my dry cleaning in for the bottom of this closet, and it has handles so I can just scoop it up and take it to the car when I need to go to the cleaners.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_HPG-Ytux8/UVsm4MIPDCI/AAAAAAAAAZM/-UcP36avwDM/s1600/DSC_0094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_HPG-Ytux8/UVsm4MIPDCI/AAAAAAAAAZM/-UcP36avwDM/s400/DSC_0094.JPG" width="265" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aMBmfNs9lyo/UXBfVc2znzI/AAAAAAAAAd4/5xZR_IjgGZY/s1600/DSC_0128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aMBmfNs9lyo/UXBfVc2znzI/AAAAAAAAAd4/5xZR_IjgGZY/s400/DSC_0128.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
{Before} {After}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And....I found this old shower curtain rod and some hooks that served as a great way to store my purses so that I can see them and they keep their proper shape.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IBy4TkARMYw/UXBiKxCZSKI/AAAAAAAAAeI/KBs0CF_8Fcg/s1600/DSC_0129.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IBy4TkARMYw/UXBiKxCZSKI/AAAAAAAAAeI/KBs0CF_8Fcg/s400/DSC_0129.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Like I said before, I didn't have too terrible of a mess when I started, but I can say that it is much easier to get dressed now with everything tidy and visible! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
One tip that I learned through the process is to use what you have to divide areas. Notice I used a beach bag next to my bathing suits {handy}. Or, use pretty shoe boxes to serve as the perfect bin to hold smaller items that get messy easily {see the DVF magenta one-my tights are in there!}</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope I have inspired you to tidy up!! Good Luck....<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy,</div>

I mean, who isn't, right? Well, last night I tried one...and, it was great!!<br />
<br />
I tried spaghetti squash for the first time a few of years ago, and I like to use it as a side when I am trying to cut back on carbs! I have always just cooked the squash {in the oven} and added a little butter, salt, and pepper. So, when I came across a <a href="http://www.thecomfortofcooking.com/2013/03/skinny-spaghetti-squash-alfredo.html" target="_blank">this recipe</a> from <i><a href="http://www.thecomfortofcooking.com/" target="_blank">The Comfort of Cooking</a></i>, I couldn't wait to try it!<br />

Ok, so, I have to admit that I clean out my entire closet every spring and every fall...so, the before {seen <a href="http://levees-lace.blogspot.com/2013/04/eight-weeks-to-organized-list.html" target="_blank">here</a>} is not <u>too</u> bad. If your needs a little more help than mine, just stick with it, and, come fall, it will be much easier to tidy up!<br />
<br />
Before I actually got started on the closet, I decided to make a tentative plan and purchase some storage containers. I have been storing my off season clothes in flat bins under my guest bedroom bed for many years {this started because I lived in apartments and it was the only option}, but ideally I would like to get rid of these bins.<br />
<br />
After researching several sites, I found <a href="http://www.containerstore.com/welcome.htm" target="_blank">The Container Store</a> had a spring cleaning sale going on and decided to buy these grey storage bags to store my off season clothes in the top of my closet. I took measurements and decided on 3 of the extra-large bags.<br />
<br />
**Make sure to measure the area where the bags will go and try to fill that area!**<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7uIveofRfiQ/UVRzNFvPh6I/AAAAAAAAAWo/_j8tULfMeSg/s1600/Grey_Storage_Bags_x.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7uIveofRfiQ/UVRzNFvPh6I/AAAAAAAAAWo/_j8tULfMeSg/s320/Grey_Storage_Bags_x.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Container Store</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.containerstore.com/shop/springOrganizationSale/clothingStorageCare?productId=10024282&N=77036&Nao=20&Ns=p_price_sort%7C0" target="_blank">Grey Storage Bags</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
$7.99-9.99</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love that these bags have labels and are open on 3 sides so you can easily add to or remove things you may need throughout the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In addition to my main closet, in my bathroom, I have a smaller closet in my bedroom, that I have not been utilizing completely. I decided to transfer some items that were jammed into the larger closet, to the smaller closet. One of which was a hanging shelf organizer that I purchased from Wal-mart last year. It really saves a lot of money if you try to utilize the items you have as much as possible. Click <a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/Honey-Can-Do-Eight-Shelf-Organizer-and-Two-Drawers-in-White/14922841" target="_blank">here</a> to find one that is similar to mine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Lastly, I needed to store <i>off season</i> shoes so that those in my closet all had a designated spot. I decided to buy these "under the bed" shoe organizers to go inside a built in bench that I have in my bathroom {another area that has not been used for much of anything}. <i>Get Organized </i>had a great price on these, and I bought 2. <br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Last year, as a wedding gift, Carey had a closet built for me! When we did this, we had the builder add molding on one wall to hold shoes. This was an idea that I found on Pinterest, and it is a relatively easy DIY project. It is very important to have a place to store shoes in a visible place because everything stays a lot more tidy if we keep items off of horizontal services {the floor}.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My inspiration:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g9Gi_UkQX8M/UV7W0xKnKjI/AAAAAAAAAaw/8Rc-4kbx-vo/s1600/shoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g9Gi_UkQX8M/UV7W0xKnKjI/AAAAAAAAAaw/8Rc-4kbx-vo/s320/shoes.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><a href="http://houseandhome.com/blogs/house-home-daily/shoe-storage" target="_blank">via Canadian House and Home</a></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mine{before tidying}:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBrdPx4aOGQ/UVsmz-Fu2TI/AAAAAAAAAY4/6xjg2F_r498/s1600/DSC_0092.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBrdPx4aOGQ/UVsmz-Fu2TI/AAAAAAAAAY4/6xjg2F_r498/s320/DSC_0092.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I would love add more molding and "store" off season shoes up high in the future {the ceiling in my closet is 10 feet high!}, but, for now, I am going to pack the off season shoes away.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
***TIPS to get STARTED***</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Measure your areas</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Take note of items that are often out of place or do not have a place</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Make a plan that works for your budget and items</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Keep horizontal service clear {floor of the closet, tabletops}</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Store seasonal items out of sight, in areas that cannot be accessed as easily {reserve highly accessible areas for items that are needed more often}</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for PART 2, the finished product! Happy organizing :)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy,</div>

BIG HAIR! Farrah Faucet made the hair featured on W Magazine's April 2013 cover famous years ago, which in my {southern} opinion will never go out of style. One of her co-stars explained how she used to accomplish this look that so many girls have attempted. He said she flipped her head over, brushed her hair, and tossed it back. Ok, so we don't all have that kind of hair but we can incorporate a few steps into hers...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sNQ8v9wICK8/UVWc8rlmtsI/AAAAAAAAAXw/J0jeZbQ18Jg/s1600/Farrah-Fawcett.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sNQ8v9wICK8/UVWc8rlmtsI/AAAAAAAAAXw/J0jeZbQ18Jg/s1600/Farrah-Fawcett.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Use large hot rollers to roll all of your hair<br />
Spray your hair with hair spray while the rollers are still in your hair<br />
Once the rollers have cooled, take them out leaving the curls in tact as much as possible<br />
Flip your head over, brush your hair, and spray with hairspray<br />
Flip your head back over and VOILA!?<br />
Well maybe your hair is perfect at this point... but my hair is naturally curly so the front pieces around my face still usually need to be touched up.<br />
Use a large curling iron and curl pieces away from your face to smooth any frizziness<br />
Brush those pieces just a little to maintain the loose, natural look<br />
Then, more hair spray!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is the beautiful blonde that flaunted the look on the cover of <a href="http://www.wmagazine.com/celebrities/2013/04/brit-marling-eddie-redmayne-emayatzy-corinealdi-new-guard-cover-story-ss#slide=1" target="_blank">W Magazine</a>.<br />

<br />
Flip all of your hair to one side to get a totally different look than the traditional off center part shown in the first two shots. I think it portrays more romance and is an easy transition to night by simply changing your part.<br />
<br />

<br />
Let me know what you think about this style and how your look turns out. Also, we would love to see pictures of your "Farrah" hair {email them to leveesandlace@gmail.com}.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In celebration of our first anniversary, my parents gave me and Carey a piece of furniture that has been in my mother's family for over 100 years. Her grandfather originally made the piece as a sewing table and over the years it has been handed down, adapted into a desk, and restored as necessary. I grew up with it in my bedroom, and now it is back in my life! </div>

Mom picked up the mirror with drawers {on top} at an estate sale. I do not have much wall space in my bedroom, so I decided to stick it in a corner. The next step is to decide whether to use the mirror {which would have to be replaced since the current one is antiqued and not clear} or to use a smaller lighted mirror {for functionality}.</div>

I was a bit skeptical at first, I have to admit. But, after rave reviews from a good friend in Indianola, I decided to give it a try. I mean let's face it, we have limited options when it comes to shopping trends in the area :)<br />
<br />
After signing up, you are asked complete a detailed <i>style profile</i> that includes obvious measures such as height, weight, and clothes sizes, but also items to help the stylist pick the correct clothes for you... such as how you prefer your clothes to fit and how you would describe your personal style {bohemian chic, classic, glamorous, romantic, casual chic, edgy, preppy}. THEN, it goes on to show you a number of "groupings" of clothes and you are able to reveal if you...<i>Love it!, Like Most, Like Some, Don't like much at all</i>. The amount of information that you provide goes on {and on}, and I particularly liked that I was able to share a Pinterest board with them so they could understand my style even more!!<br />
<br />
Although, I thought all of the style profile questions were great, I still wondered, <i>What if I don't like any of the items they send? How much money will I lose?</i> and...<i>What price range clothes are they shopping for?</i><br />
<br />
Well, to me, this is the part that convinced me to go through with it...It only costs $20/month. Then, if you buy something, that $20 goes toward the cost of the item!! So, all you are really committed to is buying one item {or losing the $20 styling fee}. Also, you are able to fill in your preferred price ranges when submitting your <i>style profile</i>.<br />
<br />
It took about 2 weeks for membership to be <i>accepted</i> {there is a wait list},and I received my first box on March 17th!!<br />
<br />
The packages is super cute, and it is so exciting to find out what was picked just for you! {No two fixes are alike}<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first thing I saw was <i>Lace!</i> and orange {which I happen to really like for spring-however, I already bought a few orange spring items}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I looked through the clothes that night, but was not able to try them on until later....There are <u style="font-weight: bold;">five</u> items in every <i>fix</i>. Mine included: Two blouses, a pair of jeans, a dress, and a necklace. Here are the jeans and the blouse I decided <i>not</i> to keep....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A5mbTp5RyL8/UVL-D5a8zMI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/Hd2rZHkHsO0/s1600/DSC_0024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A5mbTp5RyL8/UVL-D5a8zMI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/Hd2rZHkHsO0/s400/DSC_0024.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I loved the jeans, however, they did not fit. I expected this since I usually have a very hard time finding jeans that I like. I decided not to keep the blouse, just because I was underwhelmed and cost $78.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They also add tags that describe the piece and give you a couple of ideas about how it can be worn. I think this is a really nice touch!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There was a really pretty orange/pink dress.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnzNwJBMyzw/UVL_c4lH__I/AAAAAAAAAVo/qCq5hicrZes/s1600/DSC_0038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnzNwJBMyzw/UVL_c4lH__I/AAAAAAAAAVo/qCq5hicrZes/s400/DSC_0038.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gmBMjefdeJU/UVL_dB7jFTI/AAAAAAAAAVs/V5Ku-BL0ptc/s1600/DSC_0039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gmBMjefdeJU/UVL_dB7jFTI/AAAAAAAAAVs/V5Ku-BL0ptc/s400/DSC_0039.JPG" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I probably would have kept this item if I did not already have a dress in a similar color. It was comfortable and very reasonably priced {I think it was $58}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After all of the fun, I decided to only keep one item: <i>Chevron lace back shirt</i>. At first I did not think I liked this very much, but then I realized it is a very <i>easy</i> shirt to wear. Sometimes, I get caught up in buying the cutest clothes I can find and never have just an easy, comfortable shirt to throw on with jeans. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another great touch, is that they included a white undershirt with this one {which I happened to need anyway!}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sa31sKp0dL0/UVMDG3_T3nI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/0pSFGHooQhg/s1600/Slide1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sa31sKp0dL0/UVMDG3_T3nI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/0pSFGHooQhg/s640/Slide1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The last step is to go online, and let <a href="http://stitchfix.com/sign_up?referrer_id=3053653" target="_blank">Stitch Fix</a> know which item(s) you are going to keep...details are outlined very clearly on a label in the box you receive...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pqv6N3MaWMM/UVMA6U1Dr9I/AAAAAAAAAWA/bhIrpZ5Dtj8/s1600/DSC_0061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pqv6N3MaWMM/UVMA6U1Dr9I/AAAAAAAAAWA/bhIrpZ5Dtj8/s400/DSC_0061.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you log on, you are able to leave them notes about each items and tell them why you are or are not keeping the item.</div>
<br />
The rest of the pieces are then shipped back the next day in the USPS mail bag with prepaid shipping label {all shipping is free}. This makes it super easy to just drop off the package at the post office.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sGm4UdYP548/UVMAiAdIIiI/AAAAAAAAAV4/rkV7Dijb1RQ/s1600/DSC_0063.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sGm4UdYP548/UVMAiAdIIiI/AAAAAAAAAV4/rkV7Dijb1RQ/s400/DSC_0063.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a super fun and easy thing to do!! and...Who doesn't enjoy trying on clothes at home rather than in a dressing room at a store! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you decided to check them out, please use one of the links that is attached to this page or click <a href="http://stitchfix.com/sign_up?referrer_id=3053653" target="_blank">HERE</a> , so I will get credit for your referral! {$25/person!!!!}</div>

Since being organized in my personal life does not come
naturally to me like it does Sarah, I decided to make this my new year’s
resolution… GET ORGANIZED. Yes, I know that is very vague, but I do want to get
organized in as many ways as possible. I began cleaning things out in January
when the rest of the world was also still working strongly toward their
resolutions and just like most of those people with new gym memberships, I
started to lose focus on my goal. Well now I am finally getting back on track and
excited to share it with you {please don’t judge the before pics that you may see on some posts}.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When we moved in several months ago, there were boxes
stacked everywhere. We quickly realized that we needed to pick up a few things before we would be able to completely unpack. One of our first purchases{after living room curtains- more about those later} was a bookshelf to store
lots of books and also personal/sentimental items that would help warm the
place up since we had to deal with lovely “apartment beige” walls. We were not wanting to spend a lot of money on this- we just wanted something functional for now. Well, I would say that is exactly what we got. The BF came back from Ikea with what might be the best bargain EVER and it is the perfect size for an apartment {also I told him I wanted a back to the book case so he thought this was a good compromise}. He did good!<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Lucky for me, I did not take pics of all of the boxes before unpacking, but here is what the bookcase looks like today.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
We already owned most of the items on the bookshelf: the beautiful <a href="http://fearlessentertaining.com/" target="_blank">Fearless Entertaining</a> books on the third shelf were gifts from my mom over the years, as well as many of the pretty cook books on the top shelf that used to be hidden inside cabinets, the white <a href="http://www.zgallerie.com/p-12020-owl-bookends-set-of-2.aspx" target="_blank">owl book ends</a> were a Christmas present to ourselves from Z Gallerie, the pottery bowl on the third shelf-that happened to match the living room colors perfectly-came from my grandmother's house, the painting on the top shelf was a Christmas gift several years back from two of the cutest little girls-Addy and Aubrey, and if you look closely at the books on the selves, most of them are a funny assortment- everything from Psychology for Dummies to Mathematics for the Nonmathematician. The book case really helped bring some personality to our new apartment while avoiding taking up much space.<br />
<br />
A couple of months ago, I managed to find a new home for the bobble heads that once lived on the top shelf :-/ I really hate that I didn't get a picture of the shelf back then. Needless to say, this has been a work in progress. If you are trying to decorate your own bookshelves, just remember to aim for a good balance between pretty pieces and personal items{and in our case, we also chose some funny things as well}.<br />
<br />
Let me know what you think and if you have tried something similar in your home.<br />

I am completely obsessed with these spring booties {and, I've only worn them once so far}.<br />

The black is lovely, but I got the neutral "sand". The heel height is perfect, and they have comfortable and easy to walk in rubber treads. I hope that I can wear them all spring and summer!</div>

This will be very important this year since I live in such a "walking area" and you never know when those showers might pop up. Here are several options I ran across during my search...<br />
<br />
<br />
I love that these Hunter boots that have less of the "rain boot" look, which would be great if you end up needing to wear them all day long.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KiIRm_q8tKQ/UUh0JXTuu_I/AAAAAAAAASE/mdAy5mbU3fA/s1600/Wellie+Hunter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KiIRm_q8tKQ/UUh0JXTuu_I/AAAAAAAAASE/mdAy5mbU3fA/s1600/Wellie+Hunter.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://usa.hunter-boot.com/product/chancery" target="_blank">Hunter Chancery (Chocolate) $225</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Henri Bendel always has a fantastic offering of wellies that range from fun prints to their classic stripe and are a good mid range price point.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hesitate to spend much on rain boots since I typically end up not actually wearing them {I am going to try to change this habit}. Since I know my history though, I researched a third option that surprised me by all of the styles--Target!</div>

Here are some of my favorites from the spring 2013 runways....<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And, since most of us are not daring enough for all over white lace....mixing white with pastels is a little bit more practical.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OlhKKqD13qQ/UUHXg8tFnjI/AAAAAAAAANo/eicgFI7EiPI/s1600/lace4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OlhKKqD13qQ/UUHXg8tFnjI/AAAAAAAAANo/eicgFI7EiPI/s320/lace4.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://www.elle.com/fashion/trend-reports/luisa-beccaria-lace-nyfw-spring-2013-runway-1#slide-21" target="_blank">{elle.com}</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Or, try black lace over white {black and white is a big trend for spring as well}....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rbUZ5X9IU-E/UUHYh6Y5ifI/AAAAAAAAANw/_FMLRq-8FDM/s1600/lace6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rbUZ5X9IU-E/UUHYh6Y5ifI/AAAAAAAAANw/_FMLRq-8FDM/s320/lace6.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lela Rose</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.elle.com/fashion/trend-reports/luisa-beccaria-lace-nyfw-spring-2013-runway-1#slide-54" target="_blank">{elle.com}</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, last but not least, if bold colors are your thing....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oSmgPPITSrA/UUHY_nD2bsI/AAAAAAAAAN4/IqIkko1WSoE/s1600/lace7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oSmgPPITSrA/UUHY_nD2bsI/AAAAAAAAAN4/IqIkko1WSoE/s320/lace7.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
J. Mendel</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.elle.com/fashion/trend-reports/luisa-beccaria-lace-nyfw-spring-2013-runway-1#slide-35" target="_blank">{elle.com}</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see, no matter your style or comfort level, lace is a definite must try for spring. Opt for small accents or one key piece before venturing into a head to toe look. When mixing different types of patterns, stick with one color to harmonize the look. And, have FUN with this girly, bold fabric choice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for shopping options....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enjoy!</div>

So some of you may be wondering... why Levees & Lace??? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Growing up, I was always super girly. I wanted to wear anything that was pink, sparkled, and had a skirt. As I got older, that didn't change much {although hopefully my sense of style changed a little}, but Sarah and I began to realize we did not live in the most convenient place to find the latest trends or try them out for that matter. Just beyond our backyard was not Neimans or Saks, it was a rice field field {see below}. However, thanks to our amazing parents who traveled with us all over the country, we were exposed to much more than what was in our "backyard". These family vacations helped cultivate our love for fashion, travel, food, and a world outside of the Mississippi Delta while at the same time giving us a great appreciation for where we were raised. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a bit of a description about where the <i>"Levees"</i> of <i>Levees and Lace</i> originated and what it means to us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KRAi5Y2cnWg/UUH6ov3tjvI/AAAAAAAAAO4/IHssE7AX_1o/s1600/Rice+Field+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KRAi5Y2cnWg/UUH6ov3tjvI/AAAAAAAAAO4/IHssE7AX_1o/s1600/Rice+Field+1.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
It has been more than sixty years since Papa {our grandfather} moved to Mississippi to farm rice--a business that our family is still in today. As you can imagine, we grew up eating a lot of rice {had to support the industry}. Granny {our grandmother} rarely served a meal that did not include some version of it on the menu. Her famous white rice {recipe below} was delicious and really didn't need anything to help jazz it up, although there was typically at least one type of gravy for Sunday lunch.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am often asked why I buy rice from the grocery store if we farm it. Well I guess you need to know a <b>little </b>more about the process of farming {if it was as easy as I am about to make it sound, everyone would probably be doing it}. After the rice has been planted and grown tall enough, the field is flooded. Levees {the small dirt hills in the pic below} are used to move water throughout the field from higher ground to lower lying areas. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4Q7hgQFjb2c/UUJEWDlwSKI/AAAAAAAAAPU/W2-LaWVDH_w/s400/Rice+Levees.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flatoutdelta.com/" target="_blank">Crooked Levee Photo in Murphy, MS by Flat Out Delta</a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">The water is drained from the field before it is time for harvest-at which point the rice turns a golden brown color. We {Daddy} uses a combines to harvest the rice from the field {shown below}. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1glIrRqoT9A/UUJF0yXsgyI/AAAAAAAAAPc/G1BtDxA8BI0/s1600/Combine.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1glIrRqoT9A/UUJF0yXsgyI/AAAAAAAAAPc/G1BtDxA8BI0/s1600/Combine.JPG" width="239" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uIR4-bhCNbQ/UUH6onKt5UI/AAAAAAAAAOw/_yizXvRkUBU/s1600/Combine+Header.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uIR4-bhCNbQ/UUH6onKt5UI/AAAAAAAAAOw/_yizXvRkUBU/s1600/Combine+Header.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then the rice is transported to the dryer to remove all of the moisture from it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2Oe40f1HyjM/UUH6pNfZ60I/AAAAAAAAAPE/jsPr_lCS6N8/s1600/Rice+Field+Tractor.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2Oe40f1HyjM/UUH6pNfZ60I/AAAAAAAAAPE/jsPr_lCS6N8/s1600/Rice+Field+Tractor.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After that, it is sent to a mill where the hull is removed and it is polished to look "pretty" or as Granny said, this is when it gets the "window dressing". This is the type of rice you see at the grocery store. We do not mill our own rice- we sell it before that part of the process- which is why I buy my rice from the grocery store.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All that being said, Granny taught us how to cook her rice recipe which is below. After a little trial and error, Sarah and I made a few tweaks to the recipe to make it just a little healthier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u>Granny's White Rice</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3 c. Long grain white rice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5 c. Water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Crisco</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Salt</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
White Vinegar </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Rice Steamer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cream of Tarter</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Rinse 3 c. of rice until the water is clear. This usually takes about 3 rinses. This removes the "window coating" or polish from the rice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Put the rinsed <b>3 c. of rice</b> into top section of rice steamer with <b>5 c. of water</b>, <b>Crisco </b>{as much as you like- a little goes a long way- Granny used a plastic knife to scoop this out and if memory serves me right she used to put about 3 scoops from the knife}, <b>white vinegar</b> {a small pour- this is to give the rice its white color back since you washed the polish off},<b> salt</b> to taste {Granny always used the big salt container- not a shaker- and would pour until the water tasted salty} and mix this together</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Fill the bottom section of the rice steamer with water and add <b>Cream of Tarter </b>{you can skip this if you want, but Granny swore it would keep your rice pot from pitting}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Put the top section into the bottom section of the rice steamer with lid on. Cook for 35 min on high. This time should start from the moment you see steam come out of your rice cooker.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5.Immediately take off the heat and stir. Make sure the rice is cooked to your liking. Then transfer your cooked rice into a dish that is room temp in order to prevent the rice from over cooking.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hint: When serving rice, Granny would spray the serving spoon with cooking spray in order to prevent the rice from sticking and allow for easy cleaning later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u>White Rice Recipe</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1.5 c Long grain white rice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3.5 c Water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Extra Virgin Olive Oil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Salt </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
White Vinegar</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Rice Steamer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cream of Tarter</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Rinse 1.5 c. of rice until the water is clear. This usually takes about 3 rinses. This removes the "window coating" or polish from the rice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Put the rinsed <b>1.5 c. of rice</b> into top section of rice steamer with <b>3.5 c. of water</b>, <b>Olive Oil</b>{as much as you like- a little goes a long way and you don't want greasy rice}, <b>white vinegar</b> {a small pour- this is to give the rice its white color back since you washed the polish off},<b> salt</b> to taste {taste the water after pouring salt in-this may take a few tries before you get it the way you like it} and mix this together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Fill the bottom section of the rice steamer with water and add <b>Cream of Tarter </b>{you can skip this if you want, but Granny swore it would keep your rice pot from pitting} </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Put the top section into the bottom section of the rice steamer with lid on. Cook for 35 min on high. I start the timer when I put the pot on the cook-top and turn the burner on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5.Immediately take off the heat and stir. Make sure the rice is cooked to your liking. Then transfer your cooked rice into a dish that is room temp in order to prevent the rice from over cooking. {I sometimes skip this last step and it makes it a lot more difficult to clean my rice pot later}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let us know how your rice turns out...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enjoy!</div>

When my good friend, Jane, asked me to help her paint a piece of furniture for her little girl's "big girl room", I jumped at the opportunity! She told me that she wanted a "chalk paint look", and I knew this would be super fun and easy :) </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After talking with her I realized that Jane did not know of <a href="http://www.anniesloan.com/acatalog/copy_of_How_to_use_the_paint.html" target="_blank">Annie Sloan Chalk paint</a> and all of its glory. So, we talked about colors, and I dropped by an Annie Sloan dealer in Jackson, MS for a can of <a href="http://www.anniesloan.com/acatalog/Pure_profile.html" target="_blank">"Pure"</a> and "Clear Wax".</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4yxHYPjR7JU/UUCJLIy9bwI/AAAAAAAAAMA/Cmcn1-zr0n4/s1600/paint.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4yxHYPjR7JU/UUCJLIy9bwI/AAAAAAAAAMA/Cmcn1-zr0n4/s320/paint.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Here is a picture of the inspiration of Ava Montgomery's "big girl room"....</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
...We thought a big white chest of drawers would fit in perfectly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Unfortunately, I completely forgot to take a before picture of the chest, but just try to use your imagination. First I had Jane, with some help from her sweet husband Richard, remove the handles and knobs and fill the holes from the hardware with wood putty. After Jane's husband and dad moved the piece out to their lake house and set us up in the basement/garage, we started painting. We started with a quick thin coat of paint, no sanding involved! {This is the greatest part about using chalk paint}</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pGcpIecUKW8/UUCKSZkVvxI/AAAAAAAAAMY/TiPQtZS3psY/s1600/chest2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pGcpIecUKW8/UUCKSZkVvxI/AAAAAAAAAMY/TiPQtZS3psY/s320/chest2.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: right;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-giwU_jGauGM/UUCKRpZFYgI/AAAAAAAAAMU/yh02l60Q39M/s1600/chest1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-giwU_jGauGM/UUCKRpZFYgI/AAAAAAAAAMU/yh02l60Q39M/s320/chest1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, we let that coat dry over night. Next we sanded the spots where the holes had been filled. This could have been done first, but we did not have the sandpaper until the next morning. Then, we continued with a second coat, and, in some places we even added a third. We were shocked at how quickly the entire job went, and Ms. Ava Montgomery even got to "help" transform this piece of furniture for her room!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jOlpWkBj-So/UUCMcNGPOkI/AAAAAAAAAMo/w_8pO3igOiY/s1600/AMpaint.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jOlpWkBj-So/UUCMcNGPOkI/AAAAAAAAAMo/w_8pO3igOiY/s400/AMpaint.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Lastly, we decided we could not wait on hardware to be ordered/shipped so we headed into Oxford to find some knobs. After some debate with the store owner about whether or not they would work correctly, we decided to purchase some beautiful glass knobs from AC's. The knobs were originally made to be used as door knobs (not pulls), so we made a quick trip to the hardware store to purchase some nuts. With the minor adjustments the knobs worked perfectly! We couldn't be happier! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--XYWgo1-YkQ/UUCMGGMPLGI/AAAAAAAAAMk/TAnEg6mK3Y8/s1600/chest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--XYWgo1-YkQ/UUCMGGMPLGI/AAAAAAAAAMk/TAnEg6mK3Y8/s640/chest.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last steps are to wax the chalk paint using clear wax for a more finished, matte result and to add some knobs or handles to the doors (the ones we purchased were too big and bumped together). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for pictures of the the final product in Ava Montgomery's finished "big girl room"! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enjoy,</div>

In preparation of that beautiful sunshine, I have been doing a little research on some potential upcoming purchases at one of my favorite one-stop shops for swim wear, <a href="http://www.everythingbutwater.com/" target="_blank">Everything But Water</a>. I found this store while living in Charleston, SC and loved how many options they had available. The only thing more difficult for me to buy than jeans is a swim suit. So you can imagine that I like to have many many choices of styles and designers available when I go shopping. Here are some great options...<b><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></b><br />

It is quite rare that I find that a product that actually lives up to it "claim to fame", but for me these were perfect!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The color I chose is <b>Petal Rose</b>, but I have heard great things about many of the colors. It never dries your lips out and is sheer enough to swipe on quickly. Enjoy!</div>

For the love of stenciling....</h2>
<div>
Since buying a house in February 2011 I have learned many new DIY tricks and experimenting with new things is one of my favorite things to do. Most recently, I decided to try an all over wall stencil in my sun-room. Here is the before...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BQLO4OzAxgo/US4mi-XfCVI/AAAAAAAAADQ/dIrLEIPR3Vs/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BQLO4OzAxgo/US4mi-XfCVI/AAAAAAAAADQ/dIrLEIPR3Vs/s320/photo.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is actually what the room looked like when we bought the house, so the previous resident had actually taken all of the items. It was first carpeted and we had the floor tiled when we did some work in the bathroom across the hall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_uvQDemWEZY/US4wN8VueUI/AAAAAAAAADg/PmtaF2dkX3s/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_uvQDemWEZY/US4wN8VueUI/AAAAAAAAADg/PmtaF2dkX3s/s320/photo2.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This project was inspired by a beautiful wall covering that I found from the <a href="http://www.thibautdesign.com/collection/roomset_high_res.php?nID=298&col_id=96&col_name=Geometric" target="_blank">Thibaut</a> Geometric collections. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0tsVLh3swN8/US42iqqfDhI/AAAAAAAAAEY/qpYrlO_KYYU/s1600/GMR_Allison.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0tsVLh3swN8/US42iqqfDhI/AAAAAAAAAEY/qpYrlO_KYYU/s400/GMR_Allison.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After I figured out how much the wall covering would cost (approximately $400), I started looking into less expensive options. My mother-in-law (who also happens to be an interior decorator) told me to look into wall stencils. After researching a few places online, I decided to go with an all over wall stencil from <a href="http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/" target="_blank">Cutting Edge Stencils</a> since they had one that looked very similar to the lattice design that I liked. I also had to decide on a color that looked similar to my original inspiration. After debating for a long time, I decided I just needed to pick. After trying my first sample pick, I decided on <a href="http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6778-aviary-blue/" target="_blank">Sherwin Williams "Aviary Blue"</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fd9mxd3lQdw/US40POH_LdI/AAAAAAAAAEA/3TztIqFZ5PQ/s1600/photo6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fd9mxd3lQdw/US40POH_LdI/AAAAAAAAAEA/3TztIqFZ5PQ/s320/photo6.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGTlv-Cmt4o/US4z1usegLI/AAAAAAAAAD4/TYZ83JVxcvA/s1600/blue.png" /></a></div>
<h3>
Directions....</h3>
<div>
First, I had to prime the walls, and I chose to use a plain latex <a href="http://www.lowes.com/pd_45545-807-20902_4294729418__?productId=3033715&Ntt=kilz+latex&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dkilz%2Blatex&facetInfo=" target="_blank">Kilz</a>. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXBb39NZ5TY/US4xCW_O9KI/AAAAAAAAADo/nWwT3sPKGes/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXBb39NZ5TY/US4xCW_O9KI/AAAAAAAAADo/nWwT3sPKGes/s320/photo3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Next, I painted the entire room bright white with a latex paint. And, finally, after two coats of boring white, I got to start stenciling!!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jEDrPEQbImM/US40mc8Z0pI/AAAAAAAAAEI/kx8Vc4LNNW4/s1600/photo5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jEDrPEQbImM/US40mc8Z0pI/AAAAAAAAAEI/kx8Vc4LNNW4/s320/photo5.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unfortunately, I decided to start at the bottom (just because it was easier), but after the project I learned that it would have been a much better idea to start at the top. The stencil company sends a straight edge stencil that is smaller and easier to navigate the ceiling line. Since I started at the bottom the repeat did not end at the correct part of the design to be able to use the small stencil. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After one (or a few) mess ups I quickly learned how to line up the stencil quickly and easily. I simply followed the directions provided by Cutting Edge Stencil which can be found <a href="http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/stenciling-instructions.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Lastly, I decided to just do the one "plain" wall in the room and finished it by painting the rest of the room blue. And, here is the finished job. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Anyone who has experienced summer in the Mississippi Delta
knows that you are guaranteed a few things: crops growing in the fields as far
as the eye can see, mosquitoes the size of birds (ok maybe not quite that
big—but close), and the nearly 100% humidity. In this sort of heat, there is no
such thing as “glistening”. This is the kind of heat that makes a southern lady
sweat. It makes you wonder why you just spent so much time on your hair since
five minutes after walking out the door it became a “giant frizz ball” [or for
some people it falls flat--clearly my sister and I do not have the second
problem]. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For days like this, I’m a big believer in going with whatever
is natural (I have not always had this philosophy). Let’s face it, your hair
will most likely end up taking that route anyway. In my case, I have curly hair
so I just try to calm it down and keep it from frizzing. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Below are a few of our favorite products and tricks that we
have picked up throughout the years…<br />

pointless. Joke’s on me, because I tried it and my curls are much less frizzy

<b>L’Oreal Elnet</b>… This is a great flexible hold hairspray that will
also easily brush out. Celebrity hair stylists have allegedly been using this
for years despite it being illegal in the US from 1987 until 2008 due to the product’s
ozone-damaging fluorocarbon propellants. In 2008, L’Oreal released the product
with a tweaked delivery system allowing it to be sold legally throughout the US.
I know that hairspray is a serious issue, but smuggling it into a country? That
is a bit extreme. Thank goodness it is legal now.<o:p></o:p><br />

<b>UpDo’s</b>… If I know
I am going to be out in the heat for a long period of time, I have learned to
just go ahead and put my hair up before I leave the house. This helps me avoid
the impromptu “messy bun” fiasco in a public restroom where there may or may
not be a mirror depending on the venue. A bonus—pictures typically look much
better. More to come on this topic in
the future…<o:p></o:p></div>
